The Pickle Jar
August 26 - 30
Egad, my mouse died. Navigating text on a track pad is annoying. C'est la vie. At least that's what I remember from 9th grade French with Mrs. Doverspike. I spent the middle of the week rambling around Manhattan so I didn't rack up a lot of pickleball time. I did get my 8 seconds of fame in Times Square. Photo attached at the bottom. Thanks to a lot of you I was honored as one of the top 100 fundraisers (so far) in the 2024 campaign. Rides start September 1 but until then we have some pickleball to discuss. Let's explore the pickleverse.
One Day Fun Day Tournament takes place tomorrow. There are 4 mixed doubles teams playing from Bernel/Centre County. Good luck to Frank, Carla, Steve, Linda, Ronda, Anthony, Tina, and Randy tomorrow. If you can't make it down to watch in person you can watch games from the court live cam at: https://livepickleballcourts.com/elementor-2925/ With 4 teams in a 19 team field you have a good chance of seeing one of them on a court throughout the day.
More Tournaments: I will place the flyers from some other upcoming tournaments at the bottom of the page. If you are looking to test the waters a good one to try might be the Lock Haven tournament. Why, because it is free, it is close and Lock Haven has some really nice folks playing in their community. The details are still being worked out last I heard but even if it is a single elimination, it should be a good value.
C3 Sports: I have been communicating with Lance and as of right now, C3 Sports plans to start indoor pickleball again on September 3rd. Details and SignUpGenius in next week's Pickle Jar.
Holbrook Demo Paddles: I have the paddle of power back in my demo bag. The 12mm Power Pro. Let me know if you would like to give it a try.
Walker Township: While away I was so happy to receive a photo of 7 players I know using the Walker Township court. I hope to get out there and play soon.
Tip Of The Week: I came across this article and so many of the points listed are so true. It is definitely worth the read and your consideration for more enjoyable rec play. Follow this link: https://thepickler.com/pickleball-blog/pickleball-tips-being-nice/
Content Wanted: Calling all instructors, program coordinators, and anyone that has good advice. If you have a tip or suggestion and would like to share it with the group, drop me a copy and I will consider it for a TIp Of The Week.
Have a great week, watch the temps, I hear they will creep back up on us after being spoiled for about a week. The signup for The Centre is below.
