So I get the hamstring thing settled down, play a couple of days, be out among the people including Arts Fest and BAM I get hit with the COVID bug.  If you had not heard  or read there is a new group of variants bouncing around and their group name is FLiRT.  How many hours do scientists sit around trying to come up with these acronyms and is alcohol involved?  Regardless, I'm feeling better, having been without a fever for several days so I hope to be back on the courts soon.  So wash those hands, maintain distances and if you think you have a summer  cold like I did, it just might not be.  Stay safe and let's take a short trip through the Pickleverse.

1. The IPTPA Level 1 Instructor Course is able to accept a few more students since an additional court became available.  The course is this coming Wednesday so if you want to join in don't hesitate.  There are at least 4 Centre County players attending so you should recognize some familiar faces.  See the flyer below.

2. The One Day Fun Day tournament is still accepting entries for the event on Saturday, August 3rd.  The format has changed slightly.  The intermediate and advanced play groups are still mixed doubles but the Social/Fun play group has been changed to an Open format.  Not sure if zombies are permitted or not.

3. Tyrone Courts will be resurfaced next week so the courts will look nice and fresh for the tournament.

4. Tip Of The Week -- you are probably better than you think.  There is a web sight that provides live streams from pickleball courts from around the U.S.  Tyrone is one.  You can also see courts from Texas, Florida, and other states.  It is interesting to check in on the play at these courts.  You do see some really good play but more often you see a great number of "you and me's".  Watching these games can be a good exercise in trying to analyze the shots taken, is the player using good form, could my favorite partner and I take down those two.  You also may see 4 sweet gherkins playing pickleball, see below.  Love my Tyrone peeps.  The website:  https://livepickleballcourts.com/.
