Over half way to 400 miles and I feel like I have been living the Johnny Cash song "I've Been Everywhere".  Grand Canyon of PA tomorrow.  As might guess, this will be another quickie blog.  I got to play once this week and the rust was showing for the first hour.  So let's fire up the rockets and explore the Pickleverse.

1. Results:  Congratulations to Michael F. and SaraLee F. for their bronze medal finish at the tournament in Portage.  Congratulations to SaraLee F. and Frank J. for fighting hard at the Lock Haven tournament and for not losing their cool like I probably would have for the lack of good sportsmanship one team displayed when playing SaraLee and Frank.  The format, if you could call it that, was double elimination with no brackets for gender, age or skill level.  SaraLee and Frank made it to the playoff round and then ran into a team that . . . OK going to stop there since it riles me up.  So great job you guys.   

2. Dink For Pink:  The YMCA is holding the 3rd Annual Dink For Pink tournament on October 19th.  Much to my surprise there are still several openings in the brackets.  This is a fun format where you enter just yourself.  You are then randomly assigned partners and you are awarded points as you play based on the results.  This eliminates sandbagger teams and you get to meet and play with some other and often new to you players.  Plus you are contributing to a good cause.  Here are the current open brackets:Intermediate Men, Advanced Men, Advanced Women, Beginner Men (there are 10 players per bracket and no one has signed up for this one, come on guys), and Beginner Women.  I will even provide the link to get you to the Y's pickleball page:  https://www.ymcaofcentrecounty.org/?s=pickleball

3. Penn State:  If you had not heard, Penn State installed 12 dedicated pickleball courts on the old tennis courts located behind the McCoy Natatorium.  From what I have heard they have been heavily used.  Just think what evenings at Bernel would be like if this had not happened.

4. Walker Township:  The court at Walker Township is getting regular use and hopefully there will be more courts in the next year or two.
