Since I will be out of service for pickleball next week due to getting the left cataract taken care of I played a lot this past week.  At about the middle of the week, it hit me that we have and continue to grow as a community.  In years past when we would be in the prime of the snowbird exodus there would be days when it would be a challenge to scare up enough players for even 1 court at times.  When not adversely impacted by weather we are running all 4 courts at The Centre on a very regular basis.  The 11:00 AM drop-in session has been well populated on many days also.  It seems like every week I am meeting new pickleball friends.  Exciting times ahead.  Let's explore the Pickleverse.

1.    Thanks to Deirdre B.'s volunteer efforts at Dinking In The New Year, we were awarded over a dozen Penn 26 balls to replenish our rapidly shrinking supply at The Centre.

2.    So far, so good, the new roll-away net seems to be holding up well and folks seem to enjoy playing on it.  A couple of players have remarked how they like that it does not have the center post like the other nets.

3.    C3 Sports - C3 Sports will be running their compressed schedule on Friday from 10:00 to Noon and then from Noon to 2:00 PM.

4.    A rule you may not know:  This came up recently and I wanted to share it with everyone.  As you may know, each net has a frame bar that runs across the bottom of the net.  We know that that if a ball hits the top and net and dribbles into play, the ball is still live.  There is an exception.  Should the ball dribble over and strike the bottom frame bar, the ball is dead and the point is replayed.

5.    Pickleball 101 - I will announce a date for the next Pickleball 101 session later this week.  Stay tuned.

6.    While I may not play, I may show up to the courts with my camera to get some action shots.  If I do and you prefer I don't photograph you just let me know.
