The Pickle Jar
December 2 - 6
OK, someone turned down the thermostat! Kind of wish I had put up those lights a couple of weeks ago. I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This is going to be a quickie. I was away for most of the week so I don't have my finger on the pulse of the local happenings. BTW - if you have never seen the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes, I highly recommend the show. Let's kick the tires and light the fires and blast off for the Pickleverse.
The Centre: With the last home game tomorrow, The Centre is once again experimenting with their family tailgate and bus program. With a 3:30 kick-off The Centre their parking lot will open at 10:00 AM. What does this mean for pickleballers? Load up a bunch of pickleball pals, load them into 1 vehicle and come over and play pickleball until kick-off. The cost for the 1 car is $30.00 so the per player cost for up to 5 hours of pickleball will depend on how many players you can shove into your vehicle.
The Centre: After playing in the drop-in this morning I was leaving when a staff member advised me there had been a request for a drop-in session and one was set for 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. I was hurrying to run home to shower and then head out for Thanksgiving event #3 for the week so I don't have many details like making sure that the courts had not been rented out for private play or what the rate would be. So if you have questions, call The Centre tomorrow 'cause I'm out of the loop on this one.
New Demo Paddles: I added two new demo paddles from the Holbrook line. I have the Aero T Kevlar (carbon fiber but has some Kevlar infused in its faces) and a training paddle. The training paddle is like a mini-paddle. If you would hold it in front of a regular paddle it would line up in the area of the regular paddle's sweet spot. It is fun to hit with.
Paddle Wipes: The current accessory buzz is paddle wipes. The pitch is that erasers for carbon fiber paddles eventually cause excessive wear to the carbon fiber thus causing the paddle to lose its mojo. It makes sense to me so I have ordered a couple of packs from a company recommended by a Holbrook contact. After I get them I will let you know what I think and if you are playing when I am and want to try one, let me know.
Tip Of The Week: Live is short, have fun. (Yep, just kind of mailing this one in this week.)
Here are your venue links for the coming week. Have a great one!
